Ashtanga yoga is built on a powerful three-part foundation known as Tristhana: steady Ujjayi breath, precise postures with the energetic locks (bandhas), and focused gazing (drishti). When these three elements work together, the practice becomes a tool for purifying the body and mind, sharpening sensory awareness, and cultivating a clear, steady inner landscape. In this workshop we will carefully unpack each part of Tristhana—breath, bandhas, and gaze—so you understand both the “why” and the “how.” We will then weave them into the Primary Series, giving you practical ways to bring this method into every posture and transition. The aim is simple yet profound: to shift from an external, physical approach to a more internal, mindful one. As purification takes place, the practice naturally deepens and new pathways of growth open. All levels are welcome. Experience with Ashtanga is not required—this method enriches any style of yoga.
